Our vision for Whatawhata School

The staff, Board of Trustees (BoT), community and students of Whatawhata School believe that every child has the right to enjoy and be successful at school in ways that ensure they are present, participating, engaged, learning, achieving and belonging. We want every student to progress as far as possible and in the most appropriate way possible according to their own context.

We aim to make sure that every child:

Is present at Whatawhata School with their peers and friends all of the time

Is participating and engaged in all aspects of learning in and out of school, learning with their peers and experiencing all the things their peers do to enable them to grow, to achieve and to care

Is learning and achieving through experiencing success in all aspects of learning, being challenged, learning in different ways, learning in ways where their context is valued and understood, taking ownership and responsibility for their learning, recognising and celebrating their progress, and enjoying the excitement that learning brings

Feels a sense of belonging at Whatawhata School, enjoying school, having pride in their school and enjoying learning with their friends and peers in their local community
